Monroe County man indicted on child rape charges after trafficking investigation

A man from Monroe County, Jonathan Neff, age 33, has been indicted on nine felony charges related to the alleged rape of a child. The charges follow an investigation by the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. According to authorities, the incidents are believed to have taken place between January and July 2024.

The Noble County grand jury issued the indictment accusing Neff of sexually assaulting a minor victim during this period.

Authorities are seeking assistance from the public for any further information regarding potential crimes involving the defendant. Community members with relevant information are encouraged to contact Capt. Kelly McGilton at the Noble County Sheriff’s Office at 740-541-6474.

The Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force operates under the Ohio Attorney General’s Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission and is led by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office. The task force brings together personnel from sheriff’s offices in Athens, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, and Washington counties; police departments in Athens, Belpre, and Marietta; Marietta College Police Department; Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections; Ohio Investigative Unit; as well as prosecutor’s offices in Morgan, Monroe, Meigs, Noble and Washington counties. Nonprofit organizations such as the Washington County Coalition of Rescue and Restore and EVE Inc. also participate in its work.
