FOIA Request to Ohio State University Newark regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

A request has been submitted to Ohio State University Newark under the Ohio Open Records Law by Buckeye Reporter, a media organization dedicated to local governmental affairs. The request seeks access to a complete list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges, regardless of whether the courses were conducted in-person, online, or through hybrid formats.

The request also asks for accompanying metadata that includes the course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit, and the course delivery format. The information is requested in electronic format to facilitate ease of access and dissemination.

Buckeye Reporter emphasizes its role in providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable through news reporting. As such, they have requested a fee waiver citing their status as a media organization. The requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating government actions using Freedom of Information laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
