A Cleveland man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after being found guilty of possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. Reggie Jordan, 37, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge John R. Adams following his conviction by a federal jury in July 2023. In addition to his prison term, Jordan will serve three years of supervised release.
Court records show that on March 18, 2022, Jordan posted a video to Instagram displaying five firearms on a table along with a shooting target from a firing range in Cuyahoga County. Sergeant Marlon Wills of the Cleveland Division of Police and the Safe Streets Task Force viewed the video and recognized Jordan’s criminal background, which prohibits him from owning firearms due to prior convictions for aggravated robbery (2008), drug trafficking and possession (2014), and further drug offenses (2019).
Investigators obtained security footage from the shooting range showing Jordan firing multiple weapons while wearing distinctive red clothing. He was also seen filming himself and carrying a backpack later found to contain firearms.
A search warrant executed at Jordan’s residence led authorities to seize six firearms—including those shown in the Instagram video—two large-capacity magazines, and one firearm determined to be stolen. The seized weapons included an Interarms Pioneer Arms Sporter AK-47 rifle, an Alex Pro Firearms multicaliber rifle, four pistols, and ammunition.
Additional items recovered from the apartment included the red clothing seen in the video, marijuana, two cellphones, a drug scale, a drug press and blender with fentanyl residue, and $3,620 in cash.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Cleveland Division and the Cleveland Division of Police Safe Streets Gang Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph P. Dangelo and Peter E. Daly prosecuted the case for the Northern District of Ohio.
