On September 23, 2025, the Cleveland Division of Police announced the arrests of two suspects in connection with a double homicide that took place on September 20, 2025, on East 59th Street in Cleveland. The Shaker Heights Police Department apprehended Richard Koballa, age 45, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in the case. Earlier, the Cleveland Division of Police had arrested Andrew Dillon, age 33.

The police expressed appreciation for interagency cooperation. "We are grateful to our law enforcement partners at the Shaker Heights Police Department for their assistance and collaboration. We also commend the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit for their swift and diligent investigative work, which led to the identification and arrest of both suspects in less than three days."

According to authorities, officers from the Fourth District responded to a ShotSpotter alert reporting multiple gunshots at around 2:00 a.m. on September 20. They found a 42-year-old man with gunshot wounds outside a building; emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Later that morning at about 9:40 a.m., another ShotSpotter alert indicated a single shot fired at the same location. Officers discovered a 36-year-old woman who had also been shot and was declared dead by EMS personnel.

The Homicide Unit launched an investigation following both incidents.
