Bowling Green State University's cross country teams are set to participate in the 51st annual Paul Short Collegiate Open, which will be held on October 3 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The event is hosted by Lehigh University and is recognized as one of the largest collegiate cross country meets nationally.
The men's team from Bowling Green will compete in the brown race, an 8-kilometer event featuring a total of 38 teams. The women's team will take part in the gold race, covering a distance of 6 kilometers and facing competition from 39 teams.
The meet brings together several high-ranking programs, including 17 regionally ranked women's teams. Of those, seven are currently among the top five in their respective regions. Notably, Penn State and Georgetown, ranked fifteenth and twentieth nationally respectively, will also be present at the event. Within Mid-American Conference (MAC) play, Central Michigan—currently ranked fifteenth in the Great Lakes region—is another participating school.
"Bowling Green will line up against programs from across the region and beyond, providing the Falcons with a chance to measure themselves against high-level competition midway through the fall slate," according to university officials.
