The Ohio House of Representatives has approved House Bill 309, a measure intended to provide property tax relief for residents across the state. The bill is designed to offer an additional approach for addressing ongoing concerns about rising property taxes in Ohio.
Greg R. Lawson, research fellow at The Buckeye Institute, responded to the bill’s passage, stating, “House Bill 309 puts another tool in the tax reformers’ toolbox to help fix Ohio’s property tax problem, and Representative Thomas should be commended for his efforts. House Bill 309 is only one piece of a much larger puzzle of local government and property tax reforms that need to be adopted to help Ohioans clamoring for relief, and The Buckeye Institute urges the Ohio Senate to take up this urgent reform to help homeowners struggling with skyrocketing property tax bills.”
The Buckeye Institute has been active in advocating for comprehensive changes in local government and property tax policies, emphasizing the importance of continued legislative action beyond this single bill.
