Thomas Massie, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 4th district since 2012, recently made several statements on social media concerning the Department of Justice and FBI activities related to January 6, 2021. Massie’s posts address findings from a recent DOJ Inspector General report and call for accountability and pardons.

On December 12, 2024, Massie accused Attorney General Merrick Garland of lying under oath regarding the presence of confidential human sources at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He questioned whether Garland would seek a preemptive pardon from President Biden for perjury in light of the DOJ Inspector General’s report released that day. “Watch! AG Garland lied to me under oath for years about whether confidential human sources were at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Later that same day, Massie commented on FBI Director Christopher Wray’s resignation coinciding with the release of the Inspector General’s report. He claimed this timing was significant and suggested it confirmed his longstanding suspicions about FBI activities on January 6. “It’s no coincidence that FBI Director Wray announced his resignation just prior to the release of the IG report exposing activities of FBI confidential human sources at the Capitol on Jan 6.”

In another statement made shortly after midnight on December 13, Massie urged former President Donald Trump to pardon individuals involved in the events of January 6 based on revelations from the DOJ IG report. He highlighted discrepancies between how different groups were treated by authorities following their actions at the Capitol. ” Today’s shocking DOJ IG report provides @realDonaldTrump with all he needs to pardon J6ers on day one.”
