Massie, who was born in Huntington, West Virginia, and holds a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, often shares his opinions on social and political issues.
On January 29, 2025, Massie commented on the concept of rights as perceived by liberals. He stated: “Liberals who talk about rights like this are assuming you have a sub-90 IQ.” He elaborated that individuals do not have “a right to take stuff from other people or a right to make them provide a service.” Furthermore, he questioned whether one has “a right to food, healthcare services, or housing that another person creates,” answering with “Of course not.”
The following day, January 30, 2025, Massie voiced support for RFKjr’s confirmation. He remarked: “A vote against RFKjr’s confirmation is a vote to protect swamp creatures and corporations from a true advocate of the people and their health.”
Later on January 30, Massie shared his observations regarding air traffic control technology during an airport visit. He tweeted: “When I visited the tower at a major airport a few years ago… It looks like the 1980s.” He advocated for significant technological updates but noted that progress is hindered due to “aversion to risk associated with changes.”
