Senator Jon Husted (R-Ohio) participated in a White House ceremony where President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order focused on strengthening foster care. The event also included First Lady Melania Trump, who has made foster care a priority through her Fostering the Future initiative.

The new Executive Order aims to provide more educational opportunities, career development support, housing options, and additional resources for young adults leaving the foster care system. It is intended to help children in foster care access scholarships and other forms of support as they transition into adulthood.

“As a U.S. Senator who was once in foster care, I was honored that the president invited me to this special event at the White House today. I spent the first two months of my life in foster care before being adopted by my loving parents, and that experience shaped my belief that every child deserves a secure and loving home. Too many kids age out of foster care without the love and support they need, and today’s executive order sets us on a path to help kids through increased educational and employment opportunities. I’m grateful to President Trump and the First Lady for taking this issue head on,” said Husted.

Husted’s involvement follows his previous efforts supporting youth in foster care. Earlier this year, he joined a Senate resolution designating May as National Foster Care Month.
