Chicago Soft Red Winter (SRW) contracts were up by 4 to 5 cents, Kansas City Hard Red Winter (HRW) increased by 6 to 7 cents, and Minneapolis spring wheat climbed by 7 to 9 cents in the front months.

The latest Crop Progress report showed that U.S. spring wheat planting was at 12 percent complete, which matches the average pace from the past five years. Emergence of the crop was reported at two percent. The winter wheat crop had reached twenty percent headed—eight percentage points ahead of normal for this time of year. However, condition ratings for winter wheat dropped four percentage points to thirty percent rated good or excellent.

The Brugler500 index reflected these changes with a five-point decrease to a score of two hundred ninety overall. The main HRW states averaged a rating of two hundred fifty-three on this index—the lowest since last year—while SRW states averaged three hundred fifty-three.
