Anderson Hills United Methodist Church: How many of you enjoy waiting?

Worship

Anderson Hills United Methodist Church issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

How many of you enjoy waiting? If you are a child, the next week will seem excruciatingly long.

I have serious issues around waiting. Ask my family how good I am at waiting. Advent is the season of waiting. We are in the in-between time; the first Advent when he came as a babe in a manger, and his second Advent, when he shall return to make all things right.

This year we have been using Charles Wesley’s Advent hymn, “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”, to help us understand why Jesus came.

This Sunday we focus on the verse, “Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth thou art.” Read the story of Simeon found in Luke 2:22-32 before you come.

I will be preaching in all services except the 11:00 service in the Fellowship Hall and Salem. Pastor Jonathan will be preaching in those services.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year.

Mark Rowland
