Poll: Parental Rights Issues Potentially In Play If Issue 1 Fails
The Ohio Pulse Poll from Baldwin Wallace University showed that nearly 54% of Ohioans thought that parents should not have control over which books are in school libraries, among several other key parental rights issues polled. The poll highlights that future of parental rights in education in Ohio could rest on the future of Issue 1, the August 8 ballot initiative that would raise the threshold necessary to pass an amendment to Ohio's State Constitution from 50%+1 to 60%.

Rep. Cutrona on Issue 1 Opponent: 'These groups have shown they'll stop at nothing to destroy the fabric of our state's Constitution with an injection of their radical ideals'
In a statement to the Buckeye Reporter, Rep Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) argued that the liberal groups that are opposing Issue 1 are doing so in order to pass future Constitutional amendments related to school curriculums and books as well as parental rights. These groups, including the Red Wine and Blue "porn moms," have been active on social media urging Ohioans to vote and calling for out-of-state help and support.

Dark money group that gave $2.5 million to defeat Ohio Issue 1 has given additional millions supporting abortion, opposing gun rights in other states
The Washington DC based dark money group, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, contributed 2.5 million dollars to One Person One Vote, the group driving the "vote no on Issue 1" campaign. The Sixteen Thirty Fund has spent millions in past cycles on ballot initiatives in other states supporting abortion, opposing gun rights, among other issues.

McColley on the need for Issue 1: 'Ohio has had its share of greedy out of state interests seek to permanently inscribe their own sweetheart deal into our constitution'
Ohio State Senate Majority Leader Rob McColley recently cautioned Ohioans that the flurry of outside spending on ballot initiatives in California is not unique to that state. McColley argues that without the protections in Issue 1, Ohio's Constitution could continue to be a target for expensive amendment campaigns from out of state interests.
