As Joe Biden travels to Ohio on Monday, here are four critical questions for him that he should be asked.
Why should Ohio retreat backward to economic globalism?
Joe Biden has spent nearly a half century in the Washington swamp, and he’s been a true Delaware senator, representing the interests of giant multinational corporations and the prerogatives of foreign governments, to the detriment of American workers, especially heartland industrial workers in places like Ohio. In fact, Biden was a foremost proponent of the disastrous NAFTA agreement in 1994. From the ratification of NAFTA until President Trump’s election, Ohio lost a staggering 304,700 manufacturing jobs. Thankfully, President Trump renegotiated that terrible trade deal and replaced it with the USMCA pact which prioritizes American workers. Joe Biden was also the best friend the tyrants of Beijing could ever ask for in Washington.
As senator and as vice-president, he aggressively pushed China’s inclusion into the World Trade Organization and enabled the Chinese Communist Party’s systematic abuse of American workers through trade practices that were predatory, not reciprocal, and even outright criminal. According to a study from the Economic Policy Institute, the state of Ohio lost 121,400 jobs due to the disastrous trade structures with China that Biden facilitated. While the Chinese Communist Party plundered American technology and destroyed American manufacturing jobs, Joe Biden had the gall to praise China, saying in 2011 that “a rising China is a positive, positive development, not only for China, but for America.”
As Vice President Biden uttered that Pollyanna nonsense to his Davos-credentialed CEO fanboys, America’s industrial heartland endured devastation. Biden’s own family prospered though, as his wayward son Hunter received millions of dollars from the two most dangerous adversaries of the United States: China and Russia. The recent bombshell Senate Homeland Security Committee report detailed that Hunter collected massive sums from shady operators connected to Putin and the Chinese Communist Party. The Senate committee also provided new evidence that Joe Biden knew about it all as vice-president, and he did nothing to stop Hunter.
Clearly, Joe Biden prioritizes places like Shanghai over places like Shaker Heights.
What does Biden actually propose for Ohio fracking?
The preponderance of evidence and public statements from Joe Biden point to an all-out assault on the US energy industry and particularly on fracking, so critical to eastern Ohio’s economy. But, during Biden’s trips to neighboring Pennsylvania, he contradicted his own earlier statements to claim that he is not actually for serious restrictions on fracking. It is time for Biden to be blunt with the people of Ohio.
In February of this year, Biden pledged to “phase out” fracking. Similarly, in a Democratic primary debate last year, Biden agreed that there would be “no place” for fracking in a Biden administration. He also awkwardly asked a supporter to “look into my eyes” and said “I guarantee you we're going to end fossil fuels." Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris was very direct in her opposition to fracking, telling CNN: “there’s no question I am in favor of banning fracking.”
So, can Joe Biden kindly settle this public argument with himself, and report back to us which side won? Is Biden anti-fracking, and aligning with his own running-mate Kamala Harris, plus other radial leftist allies like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez? Or, does Biden dare to alienate his extremist supporters and actually support the energy industry of Ohio? Time to come clean, Joe.
Would Biden’s administration target Ohio suburbs, again?
The Obama/Biden administration inflicted top-down federal government mandates upon suburban zoning. The suburbs of Ohio metro areas like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Dayton could again be targeted by placing Joe Biden back in the White House. Specifically, the Obama/Biden administration created the mislabeled Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule which imposed federal requirements requiring low-income and dense multi-family housing in suburbs across America.
Instead, the Trump administration repealed the heavy-handed AFFH rule and replaced it with sensible, restrained rules that protect every American against housing discrimination without micro-managing localities regarding their own assessment of appropriate housing-related zoning. President Trump wants to protect the American suburbs as an aspirational oasis for upwardly-mobile Americans, many of whom are minority citizens. But Joe Biden’s past in power suggests he will restart a misbegotten federal “war on the suburbs” of Ohio?
Why didn’t Biden fight for Ohio State football?
President Trump, almost single-handedly, saved the Big Ten football season. Trump used the bully pulpit of public pressure while also connecting conference officials with White House staff as well as relevant federal health authorities, to assure and convince the Big Ten to reverse course and re-schedule the 2020 season. As the SEC and other conferences have already shown, college sports (and youth sports) can be operated with minimal virus risks and should commence nationwide.
Young athletes are the very definition of people overwhelmingly not vulnerable to dire consequences from the China Virus. As such, no conference bureaucrats or politicians should stand in the way of young athletes and parents making informed decisions to manage risks effectively and engage in sports. The players, staff, and millions of fans of the Buckeyes have Donald Trump to thank for the upcoming season. Many ancillary businesses will also benefit, such as bars and restaurants on gamedays.
Why was Joe Biden silent on this issue? Wasn’t Joe concerned for the millions of Big Ten fans, in Ohio and elsewhere?
