Shaker Heights Middle School competed in the Power of the Pen Regional Competition, hosted virtually by Hudson Middle School last month. Eleven students participated in the competition against 32 schools. The seventh grade team earned third place and the combined seventh and eighth grade teams earned third place in the regional sweepstakes.

In addition to the team awards, three Shaker Heights Middle School students, seventh graders Anders Beckman and Nathan Bordeaux and eighth grader Isabel Siegel, qualified for the state competition in May. Anders Beckman earned an individual award with a twelfth place finish in the seventh grade group. Isabel Siegel took home a first place finish in the eighth grade group, as well as two “Best of Round” winners, a Director’s Choice award and a Platinum Pen Award.
