A Boardman Center Intermediate Student is one of five winners in the first ever “Earth Day Billboard Contest” sponsored by the Mahoning County Green Team.
The Green Team invited students in grades 4 through 8 to submit posters about litter prevention or promoting the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). They received hundreds of drawings and chose only five to be placed on billboards across the Valley during the month of April.
Boardman 5th grader, SkyleeShay Gline can see her artwork at the corner of State Route 46 and Willow Creek, in Austintown. Nearly 62,000 cars pass it every week, and she says it’s exciting to see her idea and artwork displayed on such a big billboard.
SkyleeShay is one of 7 siblings, and says the 3 R’s are “definitely important in her home.” Earth Day is April 22, and the Green Team billboards will be displayed until May 6.
