Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose underscored his dedication to championing the interests of workers. He emphasized his commitment to advocating for workers and pledged to prioritize an economy that benefits Ohio's working families if elected as senator.

"While in Portsmouth for the River Days Parade, I talked to a few longtime union Democrats who are now proudly supporting GOP candidates," LaRose said in a Sept. 3 post on X, formerly Twitter. "I often hear from great Ohioans like these that Democrats have left them and other hard-working families behind in favor of their fringe, woke ideology. I've always fought for workers like them and I assured them that as their senator, my top priority will be fighting for an economy that benefits Ohio's working families."

LaRose initiated his efforts to run for the senator seat in July, according to NBC News. He hopes to be the people's choice to face off against Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown in 2024.

"I, for one, believe that the country is heading in a dangerous direction," LaRose said in an interview, NBC News reported. "If we don't turn the tide and put things back on track, then we're going to have a real mess on our hands."

LaRose reported he has the support of many of his fellow Republicans, despite having to run against at least two others to vie for the nomination, AP News reported. He described himself as a "battle-tested" conservative and the "Republican Party's best chance" to unseat Brown.

“To be blunt, we’ve got a country to save,” LaRose said in an interview with AP News. “And I’m not an alarmist or a sky-is-falling type of person, but I see the direction our country’s heading and it’s concerning, and I think other Ohioans are concerned, too.”

While endorsements are crucial, campaign finances are also likely to maintain a considerable influence in the Senate race, Spectrum News reported. LaRose emphasized his intention to raise funds "the traditional way, from ordinary Ohioans" who desire to see a representative who shares their background in public office.
