FBI Director Christopher Wray issued a stark warning about the growing threat of terrorism infiltrating the United States, with known or suspected terrorists entering the country through the southern border using counterfeit documents. Wray emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “The threats from homegrown violent extremists that is jihadist-inspired, extremists, domestic violent extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, and state-sponsored terrorist organizations all being elevated at one time since October 7, though, that threat has gone to a whole other level.”

In response to the terrorism concerns raised by Wray, a call for constitutional carry as a means of self-defense and protection against such threats has been advocated. Lee Williams highlighted the importance of restoring Second Amendment rights, stating, “Constitutional carry levels the playing field, making it easier for the good guys and gals to lawfully carry arms.”

Williams pointed out the effectiveness of armed citizens in thwarting terrorist attacks, citing instances such as the off-duty police officer who stopped home-grown terrorists in Garland, Texas, and Jack Wilson who neutralized a gunman at a church in Fort Worth. Despite the successes of armed citizens in stopping attacks, there remains a push against the idea of private citizens using firearms for defense. The prevailing narrative of “run, hide, fight” is being challenged in favor of empowering individuals to take proactive measures in protecting themselves and others.
