Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost issued a cease-and-desist letter to Columbus City Schools, demanding the district resume transportation services for charter-school and private-school students. The letter warns that failure to comply could result in a lawsuit from the state.
According to state law, the district is required to provide transportation for nonpublic school students residing within district boundaries and no more than 30 minutes from their assigned public school. However, just before the start of the 2024-25 academic year, the district ceased this service with minimal notice to parents.
