A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Seneca County, Ohio, regarding vendor payments on September 26, 2024. The request was made by the Buckeye Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The Buckeye Reporter is seeking a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The requested information includes the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount.

The request was made under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format. As a member of the media dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, we at the Buckeye Reporter believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await response from Seneca County regarding this request and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
