FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County. The request, dated September 26, 2024, seeks detailed information about all payments made to vendors within the first nine months of the year.

Specifically, we have asked for a list that includes the vendor's name, transaction date, description of the transaction, and the amount paid. Our goal is to ensure transparency in how public funds are spent and hold public institutions accountable for their financial decisions.

We believe that access to such records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We await a response from Dekalb County officials and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency and accountability in local government.
