NFIB Ohio State Director Chris Ferruso and Assistant State Director Cameron Garczyk recently addressed several committees at the Ohio Legislature concerning small business issues.

The Ohio House Energy Committee discussed House Bill 15, which aims to amend the competitive retail electric service law. Cameron Garczyk from NFIB supported the bill, emphasizing its potential to enhance reforms that maintain a deregulated energy structure in Ohio. "Small businesses’ growth and expansion hinges on the ability of our businesses to access affordable, reliable energy, much of which is already or will in the future be generated right here in Ohio," Garczyk stated.

The Ohio Senate Workforce Development Committee considered Senate Bill 50 regarding minor work hours and Senate Bill 33 about posting labor law notices online. Chris Ferruso from NFIB backed these bills, highlighting their benefits for both employers and employees. “This legislation would provide greater ease of access to employees as they would have the opportunity to view workplace notices anywhere from their personal, work, or public computers or their cell phones without having to be at the physical location where the posters are located,” he explained.

Additionally, the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee reviewed Senate Bill 10 on third-party litigation funding. NFIB supports this legislation for its consumer protection measures, transparency provisions, and safeguarding of Ohio courts' integrity against foreign influence.
