FOIA Request to Marion County Regarding Vendor Payments from January 1, 2024, to September 26, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Buckeye Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq. The request was sent to Marion County on September 26, 2024.
The requested records include a list of all payments made to vendors within the specified period. We have asked for this information in an electronic format and have requested that it includes the following fields: Vendor Name, Transaction Date, Transaction Description, and Amount.
Our role as a media organization involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
