A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Stark County on September 26, 2024. The request, made by us at Buckeye Reporter, seeks comprehensive details about the county's vendor payments for the year.
The records sought under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., specifically pertain to all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The requested information includes specific fields such as the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount of each payment.
As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public we serve.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public and promoting transparency in government operations, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of the FOIA.
