An investigation by the Circleville Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old man from Pickaway County. The individual, Matthew Nicklas, is accused of sexually abusing a minor.

The arrest occurred when Circleville police officers and agents from the BCI's Special Victims Unit executed a search warrant at Nicklas' residence in Circleville. The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office provided assistance during the search.

Nicklas will face initial charges in Pickaway County Municipal Court, with further charges expected as the investigation continues. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding these potential crimes to contact either the Circleville Police Department at 740-420-0488 or BCI’s Special Victims Unit at 855-BCI-OHIO (855-224-6446).

The Pickaway County Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office take charge of handling this case.

It is important to note that defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
