FOIA Request Sent to Preble County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Preble County, Ohio, on October 7, 2024. The request was made by the Buckeye Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request specifically asked for a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The requested records should include the following fields: Requester Name, Requester Organization, Request Content, Request Date, Request Complete Date, and FOIA Status.

As representatives of the Buckeye Reporter, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are currently awaiting a response from Preble County regarding this request.
