A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Butler County, Ohio, regarding open records on October 7, 2024. We at Buckeye Reporter are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request was made under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., and asked for a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. The requested fields include the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As members of the media, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in disseminating information.
