FOIA Request to Highlands County Regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Logs on October 7, 2024.
In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Buckeye Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., specifically targeting the county's FOIA logs.
The requested information includes a list of FOIA logs sent to Highlands County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. The fields we are particularly interested in include the requester's name and organization, the content of their request, the date of their request and its completion date, as well as the status of their FOIA request.
As media professionals dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
