Pam Bondi, President Donald Trump's nominee for attorney general, expressed her willingness to collaborate with Democrats on gun control during her confirmation hearing. Bondi stated she would uphold U.S. laws as she did in Florida and offered to discuss "commonsense gun safety" laws with anti-gun senators.

Bondi's nomination follows Matt Gaetz's withdrawal due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Her history with gun legislation is mixed; while she claims to support the Second Amendment, her actions as Florida's attorney general suggest otherwise. She has supported and defended gun control measures, including the Parkland bill that introduced "red flag" laws and raised the age for purchasing rifles from 18 to 21.

Bondi also defended Florida's ban on open carry, a law criticized by many gun owners as unconstitutional. If confirmed, Bondi will lead the Department of Justice, which oversees the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Her confirmation seems likely unless public opposition influences congressional votes.
