The Ohio State University Buckeyes air pistol team has secured their fifth consecutive national championship. The event took place from March 14-16 in Anniston, Alabama.
Under the leadership of head coach Emil Milez, the Buckeyes triumphed in both the sport and air pistol events. They overcame competitors including Army, Navy, Utah, and The Citadel. This achievement was highlighted on the OSU pistol team's webpage.
Ohio State's Marcus Klemp emerged as the overall individual aggregate winner with a final score of 1140. He achieved second place in both the air pistol competition with a score of 572 and the sport pistol competition with a score of 568.
Blaine Simpson, another team member, secured third place overall. He finished seventh in the air pistol but claimed first place in the sport pistol with a score of 569.
Other notable performances included Abbie Leverett who placed fourth overall with a score of 1115, Riya Salian who came fifth with 1108, and Jonathan Dorsten who finished sixth scoring 1104. Overall, Ohio State had six shooters among the top ten finishers.
The final team standings for the 2025 Pistol National Championships were as follows: Ohio State led with a total score of 4476, followed by Navy at 4350, Army at 4325, Utah at 4285, and The Citadel at 4213.
