Individuals interested in participating in a rifle competition without the need for extensive travel have until April 10 to register for the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Smallbore Postal match. This event is accessible to both adults and juniors and includes events such as three-position, prone sling, and prone F-class competitions. Competitors participate from their home range, shooting at a distance of 50 feet. Scoring for the event is conducted electronically via the Orion scoring system.

The match offers participants a chance to hone their skills, increase their marksmanship experience, and compete for recognition without leaving their local area. Brad Donoho, the CMP smallbore manager, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “We’re excited to provide a way for athletes to engage in meaningful competition from their local clubs and ranges.” He added, “The Postal Program is a great way to challenge yourself, track your progress and be part of the national shooting sports community.”

Upon registration, participants will receive official targets and instructions by mail. Competitors will complete the postal match on their home range, then submit their targets for official CMP scoring. Results will be available online, enabling competitors to assess their national standing.

The cost to enter the competition is $5 per competitor for each event, and both individuals and teams may participate.

Important dates for participants include:

- April 10: Deadline for online registration

- April 21: Target submission deadline

- April 25: Release of preliminary results

- April 30: Final results announcement

In related news, CMP has announced the availability of $325,000 in marksmanship scholarships for high school seniors. Additionally, individuals can support the grassroots efforts of the Buckeye Firearms Association through membership.
