The Restoration News has reported a growing trend among Americans who are defending the accused killer of a retired deputy, rather than honoring the fallen officer. This development has raised concerns about anti-police sentiment.

According to the Associated Press, 57-year-old retired Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy Larry Henderson was killed on May 2, 2025, while working traffic detail at a University of Cincinnati event. Police allege that Rodney Hinton Jr. intentionally struck Henderson with his car in retaliation for the police shooting of his son, Ryan Hinton, the day before. Officials confirmed that Henderson was not involved in the earlier incident, yet the act appeared to be a calculated targeting of law enforcement.

WCPO Cincinnati reports that following Hinton Jr.’s arrest, at least three GoFundMe campaigns were launched to support his legal defense. The Ohio Fraternal Order of Police called these campaigns "absolutely outrageous," noting the insult they posed to the family of a murdered law enforcement officer. In response, GoFundMe removed the fundraisers and issued a public apology, reaffirming its policy against supporting those accused of violent crimes.

The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program indicates that fewer than 0.2% of the nation’s 800,000 sworn officers were found to have committed misconduct in recent annual reports. While media narratives often portray systemic police abuse, FBI data shows that most officers serve without incident. Restoration News cited this data to highlight the danger of narratives that vilify law enforcement and contribute to retaliatory violence like the killing of Deputy Henderson.

Restoration News describes itself as a conservative investigative journalism outlet focused on preserving traditional American values and constitutional principles. The organization covers stories on law enforcement, religious freedom, education, and government accountability through a cultural and political lens. It aims to respond to mainstream narratives by highlighting underreported truths in national and local affairs.
