Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) convened a roundtable in Cincinnati with officials from local, state, and federal levels to address law enforcement staffing needs. The meeting followed a violent mob attack in the city in July, prompting renewed efforts to improve public safety and support for law enforcement.
“Since this violent mob attack in one of our great cities in Ohio, I committed to speaking with leaders at every level to put measures in place to ensure this never happens again,” said Moreno. “I’m grateful for the progress we’ve made thanks to the dialogues I’ve had with Mayor Pureval, Chief Theetge, and other local leaders. I will continue to work to make sure that law enforcement has the ability to keep the citizens of Cincinnati safe.”
Attendees included Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, Police Chief Teresa Theetge, Attorney General Dave Yost, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Dominick Gerace, and Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich. Local law enforcement representatives and business leaders from Cincinnati also participated.
The roundtable focused on crime reduction strategies and ensuring adequate resources for police departments so that communities remain secure and businesses can operate safely.
