The following statement from Superintendent Billy Smith is in response to Governor DeWine's comments asking school leaders to implement mask mandates in their school
districts.
"Recently, Governor DeWine asked school leaders to implement mask mandates in their school districts as a response to the current wave of COVID cases across the state of
Ohio. He went on to share that we all share the same goal: we want our kids in school. As a school district, we have worked hard to keep our students in school, and we will
continue those efforts.
The Fairfield City School District will continue to strongly recommend facial coverings for all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status. Because many of our students and
staff members have gathered with family and friends during the Winter Break, the District is asking all students and staff members to strongly consider Governor Dewine’s request
to wear a facial covering during this current wave of increased cases and spread.
Throughout the pandemic, the Fairfield City School District has followed guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Health and has also adhered to any mandates that have been
issued. The school district remains committed to monitoring our own data and will consider a change if the data indicates a need to do so."
