The Bowling Green State University women's golf team is set to begin its fall season at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan University in Kewadin, Michigan. The event will take place at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort, starting with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday, August 31. The tournament format includes two rounds on Sunday and a final round of 18 holes on Monday.
Bowling Green finished second at last year's A-Ga-Ming Invitational with a team score of 916. This year, the Falcons are among eleven teams competing, including other Mid-American Conference (MAC) schools such as Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and Ohio University.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Falcons had one of their strongest seasons in 2024-25. They secured six top-five finishes in stroke play tournaments and placed first at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. The team also finished second both at last year's A-Ga-Ming Invitational and the MAC Championships, which led to an invitation to the National Golf Invitational. Entering the new season, Bowling Green aims to build on this momentum and return to the MAC Championships in spring 2026.
During the summer break, several BGSU golfers participated in and won individual tournaments across different regions. Sophomore Macie Elzinga won the Michigan Women's Amateur Championship and qualified for the US Women's Amateur Championship. Fellow sophomore Addison Kartusch claimed victory at the Manitoba Junior Girls Championship. Clare Yeazell took first place in the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association's Metropolitan Women's Amateur Championship, while Ava O'Sullivan repeated as champion of the Women's Golf Association of Pennsylvania Mary Thayer Farnum Cup.
The program has added three freshmen—Audrey McIntyre, Copelin O'Krangley, and Shelby Hardwick—who will compete for Bowling Green's "B" team this weekend. Additionally, Tyler Nickol has joined as assistant coach; his NCAA playing background and coaching experience are expected to benefit all members of the program.
This weekend’s main lineup consists of Addison Kartusch, Sammie Dolce, Ava O'Sullivan, Clare Yeazell, and Macie Elzinga. Competing for the "B" team are McKenzie Miller along with newcomers Shelby Hardwick, Copelin O'Krangley, and Audrey McIntyre.
Erin Fahey, head women's golf coach for Bowling Green State University said: “The 2024-25 season was one of the best in recent years for the Falcons, as they earned six top five finishes in stroke play tournaments. Most notably the Falcons finished first at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, second at the A-Ga-Ming, and second at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, earning them a postseason invitational to the National Golf Invitational. Coming into the 2025 fall season, the Falcons will look to build on their impressive 2024-25 season, ultimately building towards a return to the MAC Championships in the spring of 2026.”
Bowling Green’s participation highlights continued efforts toward competitive success within collegiate women’s golf.
