Bowling Green State University placekicker Jackson Kleather has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in games played through August 31. This marks Kleather's first MAC weekly award.
Kleather, a junior from Tipp City, Ohio, contributed 14 of Bowling Green's 26 points during their season-opening win. He made all four of his field goal attempts, which ties him for the second-most successful field goals in a single game in the program's history. Three of these field goals were made in the second half, including a career-long 56-yard kick on the opening drive after halftime.
That 56-yard field goal extended Bowling Green's lead to 20-0 and tied for the second-longest in school history. It is also noted as the longest Falcon field goal since 1995, as well as being the longest field goal in the MAC this week and tying for the second-longest in the nation.
Bowling Green will next play Cincinnati on Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
