On Aug. 10, Jim Jordan, U.S. Representative of Ohio's 4th Congressional District, pointed out that even within the Democratic party, there is acknowledgment of Joe Biden's significant failure in managing the border crisis, a problem that was absent during the presidency of Trump.

"Even Democrats know Joe Biden has completely failed when it comes to the border crisis," Rep. Jordan wrote in an Aug. 10 social media post on X, formerly Twitter. "Didn’t have this problem under President Trump!"

According to the New York Post, New York City Mayor Adams issued his 36th warning to Pres. Biden, emphasizing that without swift federal funding, the migrant crisis will severely harm the city's economy. Mayor Adams has repeatedly sought assistance from Biden but has received no additional funds or direct engagement this year. Adams has been urging the Biden administration for more support to cover the costs of shelter and social services for asylum seekers. The federal contribution or promise so far is a mere $142 million, which Adams says is insufficient.

Mayor Adams recently had a 30-minute closed-door meeting with Tom Perez, a top aide of Pres. Biden, to discuss New York's priorities regarding the asylum seeker situation, the New York Post reported. This meeting comes after Adams estimated potential costs of around $12 billion to care for asylum seekers in the city.

According to City Journal, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul responded to a judge's implication that the state of New York should do more to help NYC with its migrant crisis. In an unusual letter, Hochul implied that due to Mayor Adams' mishandling of the situation, the city doesn't deserve further assistance. The governor suggested that Adams needs to acknowledge that the city can't accept more migrants into its homeless-shelter system.

The state's new counsel, Faith Gay, criticized the City's approach of sending migrants to other counties and localities without proper coordination with the state, Politico reported. Mayor Adams' administration is reviewing the state's letter and advocates for a statewide order preventing localities from preventing asylum-seekers' relocation.

AMNY reports that more than 100,000 asylum seekers have arrived in New York City since last spring, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing migrant crisis that has had both humanitarian and economic consequences throughout the city.
