Community activists in the Indian Lakes region of Ohio have scheduled a meeting for May 29 to consolidate opposition against a proposed solar farm in the area. The announcement for the meeting was made on Facebook by organizer Aubrey Snapp, who stated, "Everyone needs to come so we can listen, learn, and figure out how to best fight this together!"
The group known as Indian Lake Against Solar is actively educating local residents about the potential drawbacks of industrial solar fields. They are also keeping the community updated on developments related to the proposed solar project at Indian Lake.
Michael Wilson, Director of Communications at the Logan County Electric Cooperative, will be the featured speaker at the upcoming meeting. His speech is titled "Facing Unprecedented Challenges: The Reality of Rolling Blackouts."

Snapp further emphasized on Facebook that grassroots groups concerned about renewable energy face significant challenges in combating the rapid proliferation of solar farms across the country. She wrote, "We need to get the whole community involved to stop this! We are not against personal use of solar, but THOUSANDS of acres on prime farmland and within a residential and tourist community is NOT in anyone's best interest!"
Indian Lake Against Solar is not alone in its concerns about a potential solar farm in their vicinity. Preserve Knox County Ohio, an organization created to protect prime farmland and rural areas, has also expressed opposition. Rocky Black, a member of Preserve Knox County Ohio, urged others to take action: "Ask your state legislators to place a moratorium on turning farmland into industrial solar/wind until the full facts are known." The group also highlighted that Open Roads Renewables is allegedly trying to prevent "members of our group from testifying at the two upcoming local sessions of the hearing on the project."
