For many years, supporters of gun control have had an advantage in voting by encouraging early participation, either in-person or via absentee mail. This strategy provides them more time to accumulate votes and allows voter activation groups to concentrate efforts on those who haven't yet voted as elections approach.

Pro-gun advocates are urged to adopt similar tactics. Early voting can mitigate unforeseen circumstances such as car troubles or illness that may prevent voting on Election Day. Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) is encouraging supporters to vote early, either at local Boards of Elections or by requesting a mail-in ballot.

The Republican Party has launched a "Swamp the Vote" initiative this year to facilitate early voting for all voters. Information about this effort can be found online.

Key dates for the 2024 election include:

- Sept. 20: Military and overseas absentee voting begins

- Oct. 7: Deadline to register to vote

- Oct. 8: Early in-person and absentee voting begins

- Nov. 5: Election Day

Voters must be registered at least 30 days before Election Day, with current address details updated. Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person at local Boards of Elections, Ohio BMV offices, public high schools, and libraries.

BFA emphasizes the importance of "Banking Your Vote" starting Oct. 8 through early in-person voting or mail-in ballots requested promptly.

The organization highlights its contributions to making Ohio a favorable state for gun rights but warns against complacency. Continuous efforts are necessary both legislatively and electorally to uphold these gains against persistent gun control advocacy.

BFA encourages sharing their grades and endorsements with friends and family to ensure broad participation among pro-gun voters. They also invite individuals to consult their Pro-Gun Voter Guide for 2024 and consider membership in BFA to support grassroots initiatives defending gun rights.
