A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Tuscarawas County in Ohio on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at Buckeye Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., preferably in an electronic format. The requested records include a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024.
The specific fields requested within these records include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount of each payment.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver as part of this FOIA request due to our role as a media professional.
We are currently awaiting a response from Tuscarawas County regarding this request.
