A Marion County man, aged 46, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for crimes involving minors. The announcement was made by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton.

Lawrence Fidler, from LaRue, was convicted in August on charges of rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition, and sexual battery. "Only prison bars can contain the vile impulses of a child rapist," said Yost. "I pray that this sentence provides the victims a chance to heal."

Following his release from prison, Fidler will be subject to five years of post-release control and must register as a Tier III sex offender. This status requires him to provide his home address, work address, and vehicle information to the local sheriff's office and verify this information every 90 days for life.

The case was investigated by the Morrow County Sheriff's Office with prosecution handled by attorneys from Yost’s Special Prosecutions Section in Morrow County Common Pleas Court.
