The Ohio Attorney General's Office has issued a statement concerning the ongoing litigation involving Columbus City Schools and its busing policies. The legal dispute centers on the district's obligation to provide transportation for students, which has led to an emergency motion being filed.

In the statement, the Attorney General’s Office expressed disappointment over the need for legal action to enforce compliance with existing laws. "It shouldn’t take a lawsuit and an emergency motion to decide to follow the law. Columbus City Schools admitted the law was to transport the children. Glad these kids are finally getting the transportation they were entitled to," said the office.

Despite recent developments ensuring some students receive transportation, concerns remain about others who are still without it. The Attorney General's Office emphasized that their efforts will continue until all affected students receive proper transportation services. "But this is not the end. There are more kids who still are not receiving transportation despite the district’s clear obligation to provide it. Beyond the emergency motion itself, this lawsuit will continue. We’ll continue to fight for the students that Columbus Schools is leaving behind."

The situation remains unresolved as further legal proceedings are anticipated.
