The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), representing the firearm industry, has released its 2024 Congressional Report Card. This report evaluates U.S. Representatives and Senators on their positions concerning legislation important to the firearm sector, Second Amendment rights, and hunting and recreational shooting activities.

According to NSSF Senior Vice President Lawrence G. Keane, "This report card will be critical for voters to do their research as we head into the final stretch towards the November elections just six weeks from now." He added that it informs voters about lawmakers' stances on issues such as "defending the firearm industry’s ability to engage in the lawful commerce of firearms and ammunition" and "safeguarding the Second Amendment rights of customers."

The grading reflects lawmakers' support during the 118th Congress through public voting records, sponsorship activities, committee work, signed letters supporting firearm industry issues, and leadership roles within this context. The report awarded an “A+” rating to 29 Senators and 123 Representatives. Among these, eight Senators and 24 House Members received special recognition on the Dean’s List for maintaining a perfect voting and co-sponsorship record.

Keane emphasized that these grades are intended as an analysis of legislative support rather than endorsements or oppositions regarding any candidate's election prospects.

Five members of the U.S. House were not graded due to recent special elections which did not provide enough voting history for evaluation.

The complete report is accessible online for those interested in further details about individual scores and key legislative factors considered in this assessment.
