About 70 Guard members deployed to Mount Carmel East to help with COVID-19 surge

Approximately 70 Ohio National Guard members were expected to arrive Tuesday at Mount Carmel East Hospital "to help reduce the strain on frontline healthcare workers and help increase capacity," Mount Carmel Health System announced in a news release.

As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surged across Ohio, Gov. Mike DeWine earlier in December announced the deployment of 1,050 Guard members across the state. Most of the previously announced deployments were directed to hospitals in northern Ohio, which has been hit hardest lately.
