Capital University defeated Marietta College by the score of 6-3 Saturday (March 18) afternoon in women's tennis. The loss drops Marietta to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Capital improves to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
 
Marietta's No. 1 doubles team of Ryah Haidar (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) and Isabela Paixao (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) knocked off Anna Fletcher and Nicole Flock, 8-4.
 
The Comets won the other two doubles matches. At No. 2, Abigail Hornacek and Kylee Fliter downed Abigail Hartshorn, 8-1. India Flores (Waverly, W.Va./Williamstown) and Elizabeth Vigue (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic) lost to Amy Wright-Lovell and Jenny Rollins by the score of 8-2 at No. 3.
 
Paixao defeated Fletcher in the top singles match, 6-0 and 6-1. The Pioneers' final point came at No. 5 where Hartshorn beat Rachel Smith, 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 1-0 (10-6).
 
At No. 2, Flock topped Flores, 6-0 and 6-1. Haidar lost to Wright-Lovell at No. 3, 6-1 and 6-3. Hornacek won the No. 4 match over Mauk, 6-0 and 6-2, and Rollins downed Vigue at No. 6, 6-2 and 6-0.
 
Marietta hosts Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday (March 23) at 2:30 p.m.
