Brown Announces Nearly $750,000 for Airport Improvements Across Southeast Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced $743,558 for airport improvements in Southeast Ohio. The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded three grants to three airports as a part of the Airport Improvement Program.

“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” Brown said. “These investments will enhance safety and operations at Southeast Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses.”

Funding from the FAA includes:

  • $367,041 to the James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson, Ohio to install weather reporting equipment, navigation aids, and reconstruct the airport beacon.
  • $284,267 to Harry Clever Field in New Philadelphia, Ohio to shift or reconfigure the existing taxiway.
  • $92,250 to the Jefferson County Airpark to install perimeter fencing to reduce wildlife hazards.
