On April 1, 2025, Massie posted about the cancellation of all votes in Congress for a week due to a dispute over proxy voting. He stated: "A fight over allowing Congressmen to vote by proxy caused the Speaker to cancel all votes in Congress this week. 1. Proxy voting is unconstitutional. 2. It’s foolish to delay our agenda for an entire week while we control Congress and the presidency!"

The following day, April 2, 2025, Massie shared his experience in a hearing by the Judiciary Committee on the same subject. He emphasized the role of Congress in legislative power by saying: "In the @JudiciaryGOP Committee today, we held a hearing examining judicial overreach by federal judges. I reminded my colleagues that if we would just exercise our power of the purse and our authority to make law, we could render these court rulings moot."

Massie also commented on Congress's operational shutdown for a week due to debates over voting rights for new parents in the House of Representatives. On the same day, he wrote: "Congress literally shut down for an entire week over a spat about whether new moms and dads serving in the House of Representatives should be allowed to stay home and vote. Imagine if we were this passionate about saving the country from fiscal ruin and perpetual war."
