The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is hosting the first in-person meeting of federal agencies to figure out what to do after a tragic mass murder and criminal misuse of firearms. Larry Keane, in his recent article, emphasizes that the focus should not be on post-tragedy actions but on prevention measures. He states, "The focus shouldn’t be on what the government can do after a tragedy occurs. Rather, it should be on what should be done to prevent it."

Keane also highlights the issue of underreporting of crime by government officials, noting that it hinders efforts to address and prevent criminal activities. He mentions, "That remains, in part, because government officials refuse to report it."

Furthermore, Keane criticizes the Biden administration for its failure to enforce existing laws, particularly in the realm of immigration. He states, "The failure starts at the top, with an administration that refuses to enforce immigration laws that have allowed known terrorists to cross into the United States."

In conclusion, Keane stresses the importance of focusing on prevention and accountability in addressing gun violence. He asserts that the tools for prevention are available but calls for the Biden administration to prioritize these efforts over distractions.
