Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has initiated an investigation into concerns surrounding the State Teachers Retirement System's vulnerability to a potential hostile takeover by private entities.

"Pension board members are required by law to act in the best interest of the teachers whose money they invest," Yost stated. "I will take whatever action is necessary to protect teachers against private interests attempting to hijack their retirement accounts."

In response to these concerns, Yost is currently examining the relevant fiduciary removal statute (ORC 109.98) in order to address any possible breaches by members of the STRS board. This investigation aligns with Yost’s dedication to eliminating public corruption and instances of greed and deceit within public institutions.

"This isn't monopoly money; it’s hard-earned income that belongs to teachers," Yost asserted. "There is a responsibility to act in their best interests."

The Attorney General’s Office has received documents containing unsettling allegations related to the STRS board. In light of this, Yost has committed to conducting a comprehensive and impartial investigation into these matters, vowing to take any necessary actions to maintain public trust and confidence in state institutions.
