One day after releasing its All-Region Teams, the United Soccer Coaches announced the names of its 2022 NCAA Division III Men's All-Americans. Among the list was Kenyon College senior Scott Upton.
The All-America honor from United Soccer Coaches was a first for Upton, although he was named a third-team All-American by D3soccer.com at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
A midfielder, Upton was one of just 46 players from Division III selected for the United Soccer Honors recognition. He was voted a member of the All-America Second Team. The honor reinforces a long list of accolades for Upton, who, over the last few weeks, was named a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) pick, the NCAC Midfielder of the Year, an NCAC All-Tournament honoree and a first-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region VII selection.
Upton started all 22 games for the Owls, who went 19-2-1 this past season, won the NCAC regular-season title and made an NCAA Tournament run that got them into the quarterfinal round. During that span, Upton fired in 10 goals and assisted on five others. His season total of 25 points ranked third best on the team and fourth best among all players in the conference.
Upton's career at Kenyon concluded with four-year totals that included 28 goals, 16 assists and 72 points. His goal total ranks 10th best all time in Kenyon program history and his point total ranks 11th best.
The All-America award winners will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
