After two impressive wins on Tuesday, the Notre Dame College offense showed no signs of slowing down on Wednesday. The Falcons totaled 13 runs on 16 hits against West Liberty University, going 1-1 on the day. NDC took game one by a score of 6-3, while WLU was able to come back and win game two, 9-7. Danielle Fick had five hits, including two home runs and two doubles for the Falcons, while Emma Gumont posted four hits and five RBI.

To lead off the bottom of the first inning of game one, Fick got her day started with a home run over the left field fence. The Falcons would hold that 1-0 lead until the top of the third. WLU's Kayla Mancuso walked to start the third before Riley Conkle launched a ball deep to center field that hit the top of the fence and bounced over for a two-run home run.

In the bottom half of the third inning, the Falcons put together a two-out rally. Junior Katelyn DeWeese hit an infield single and stole second. Gumont then hit the first of her two home runs on the day, by sending a line drive well over the left field fence, giving NDC a 3-2 lead.

Sophomore Destany Blake singled to start the bottom of the fourth, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and came home on an RBI single by graduate student Alexi Maciejowski.

With Notre Dame still leading 4-2, Fick led off the fifth with a ground-rule double and she moved to third base on sac bunt by DeWeese. Gumont was hit by a pitch and stole second. Both runners moved up on a sac fly by sophomore Ella Collinsworth and Gumont reached home on a wild pitch. NDC was on top, 6-2.

Fick and Gumont both had two hits in the first game. Along with her homer, Gumont also stole two bases.

NDC's Allison Weilnau pitched a complete game. She allowed just three runs and picked up her sixth victory of the year.

The lead went back-and-forth throughout the second game and WLU started the contest with two runs in the first inning. Sydney Little and Mancuso both singled to start the game, but on Mancuso's hit, a two-base error allowed Little to score. The second run scored on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom half of the first, Fick homered to left field to cut the West Liberty lead to one run.

Notre Dame pitcher Grace Fisher struck out the side in the second inning and then struck out two more hitters in the third inning. She had totaled six K's through three frames.

The Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the third. Freshman Lindsay Breuer singled to left field to start the inning, Fick put a base hit into left field and then Gumont came up clutch with a three-run home run to left.

West Liberty's Jaden Conrad and Jairika Baylor hit back-to-back homers in the top of the fourth to tie the contest at four.

Fisher would go four innings, allowing four runs but only two were earned.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Falcons took the lead back. Breuer doubled, junior Meadow Odum was hit by a pitch and Fick knocked in two more runs with a double. After a pitching change, and still nobody out, pinch-hitter Alyssa Wahl drove in a third run with a single to give NDC a 7-4 lead.

West Liberty came right back with five runs in the top of the sixth. An error, single and walk loaded the bases with no out. Weilnau entered the game for the Falcons but West Liberty hit back-to-back two-run singles. One more single drove in the fifth run.

NDC loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, but did not score.

In game two, Gumont went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. She is now hitting .400 on the season. Fick tied her career-high with three hits, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, hitting a double and home run.

Notre Dame will get back on the road to play Frostburg State, on March 25. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
